The Flipped Classroom: Turning Traditional Education on its Head

The flipped classroom is an interactive, reversed classroom that preserves the precious time student and teacher have together and utilizes this time to engage the student in teaching strategies that increase student involvement in the subject matter. The flipped classroom is an interactive, reversed teaching model that strongly engages the student before, during and after the classroom. The flipped model allows the teacher to acknowledge the needs of individual students including the older, the non-traditional as well as the millennial student. This presentation will include specific teaching strategies utilized to increase student involvement in subject matter shifting the priority from merely covering the material to student immersion in the topic.
